I spent Sunday taking in the sights at Lambeau Field, but my Minnesota sources report that the Metrodome erupted in chants of “MVP-MVP-MVP” to celebrate a near-perfect game by quarterback Brett Favre.
Favre was so precise against Seattle, throwing four touchdowns while completing 22 of 25 passes, that Vikings coach Brad Childress felt comfortable removing him from the game late in the THIRD QUARTER. (That completion percentage of 88 percent, by the way, was a Vikings single-game record.)
It’s getting to the point where I think it’s fair to wonder whether Favre is putting together the best season of his career.
Here are his key statistics through 10 games:
Completion percentage: 69.7
Touchdowns: 21
Interceptions: 3
Rating: 112.1
Record: 9-1
We spent much of the offseason discussing Favre’s decline toward the end of the past four seasons. Who knows where the rest of the season will take us. But to this point, Favre has been as good -- if not better -- than he’s ever been in his career.
