BOURBONNAIS, Ill. -- The Chicago Bears have agreed to terms on a contract with free agent center/guard Rob Turner, this according to the Twitter account of Turner’s agents, Neil Schwartz and Jonathan Feinsod. Turner still needs to pass a physical for the deal to become official.

A six-year NFL veteran, Turner started all 16 games for the St. Louis Rams in 2012 -- nine starts at center and seven starts at left guard. He started six games for the Tennessee Titans in 2013. Turner appeared in 41 games (two starts) for the New York Jets from 2007-11.

The Bears were required to add depth on the interior of their offensive line after Brian de la Puente suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain in the preseason opener versus the Philadelphia Eagles that is expected to keep him out for a couple of weeks. Guard/center Eben Britton is also dealing with a hamstring injury and is officially classified as day-to-day. Britton has been out of action for more than a week.
