Chicago Bears: Three answers, one question

After Chicago's 27-23 victory over Detroit, here are three (mostly) indisputable facts I feel relatively sure about:

1. Every team tweaks its scheme when a backup quarterback takes over, as it appears Rex Grossman will do in Chicago. How will offensive coordinator Ron Turner adjust? For one thing, it's hard to imagine the Bears using their no-huddle offense as liberally with Grossman as they did with Kyle Orton. Grossman's penchant for spectacular plays is matched by his propensity for mistakes, so look for the Bears to simplify things and make tailback Matt Forte the focal point of their offense.

2. The Bears were forced to use another replacement Sunday when rookie safety Craig Steltz replaced veteran Mike Brown (calf). Steltz had a key interception in the end zone and became the latest new name to play a prominent role in Chicago's secondary. Early indications are that Brown's injury is not serious, but the Bears now can have faith in Steltz the next time they're forced to put him on the field.

3. We noted the Lions tried some new tactics to get the ball to receiver Calvin Johnson. But if you're the Bears defense, there is no way any of them should have worked. How do you not double-team him on most every play and let the Shaun McDonalds and Mike Furreys beat you? Hard to fathom how you can lose track of Johnson on any play given the rest of the Lions' personnel.

And here's one question I'm still asking:

What is Grossman's mindset? If Grossman wants to continue his NFL career after this season, he'll need to take advantage of this next stretch of games to give other teams productive tape to evaluate in the offseason. Is Grossman prepared to do that? Does he harbor any grudge against the organization, or feel uncomfortable playing in front of Bears fans? The answers should be evident Sunday against Tennessee.
