Updating our three big NFC North personnel questions this week, which will take the place of our usual Friday "Revealed" feature.
- Chicago quarterback Kyle Orton returned to practice Friday on a limited basis. It remains likely that Rex Grossman will start Sunday against Tennessee, but coach Lovie Smith would not commit to a starter. It's a good sign that Orton was able to get on the field Friday, but that probably speaks more to his potential availability in next week's game at Green Bay.
- Detroit quarterback Dan Orlovsky has been diagnosed with two fractures and a torn ligament in his right thumb, an injury that could end his season. Coach Rod Marinelli wouldn't say who his starter will be Sunday against Jacksonville, but every indication is that it will be newcomer Daunte Culpepper.
- Minnesota defensive end Jared Allen practiced on a limited basis Friday but is listed as doubtful on the Vikings' injury report because of a sprained right shoulder. Allen, who indicated Wednesday he wouldn't play Sunday against Green Bay, said Friday that "nothing has changed" about his status. Coach Brad Childress said a decision won't be made officially until Sunday morning.
