DraftWatch: Where Bears would have picked

Hopefully everyone knows by now that Detroit will have the No. 2 overall pick of the 2010 draft. Read on if you’re a glutton for punishment and want to know where Chicago would be selecting if it hadn’t given up its No. 1 pick for quarterback Jay Cutler.

ESPN Stats & Information has projected the top 12 picks, but the NFL will have to make that list official and also break one tie by coin flip. The bottom line is the Bears would have picked no worse than No. 11. That also means the second-round pick the Bears gave up for Tampa Bay defensive end Gaines Adams will be around the No. 43 overall spot.

Here’s how the draft order would have looked if the Bears were involved:

1. St. Louis Rams (1-15)

2. Detroit Lions (2-14)

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-13)

4. Washington Redskins (4-12)

5. Kansas City Chiefs (4-12)

6. Seattle Seahawks (5-11)

7. Cleveland Browns (5-11)

8. Oakland Raiders (5-11)

9. Buffalo Bills (6-10)

10. Jacksonville Jaguars (7-9)*

10. Chicago Bears (7-9)*

12. Miami Dolphins (7-9)

*TBD by coin flip
