Black and Blue all over: Pacman in Detroit?

By Kevin Seifert

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Two key points came out of an interview session Sunday between Detroit coach Jim Schwartz and Detroit-area reporters:

1. According to Tom Kowalski of, the Lions are in an "information-gathering stage" on free-agent cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones, who worked out Friday for them and a handful of other teams. Schwartz said Jones looked "good" in the workout, according to vice president of pro personnel Sheldon Brown, but that no decisions have been made.

Schwartz coached Jones when both were with Tennessee. But, Schwartz said, "There's more to it than that. You're not signing that guy just off his workout. There's more that needs to be done. If we cross that bridge, that will be an organizational decision."

2. The Lions are mulling whether to sign restricted free agent Anthony Hargrove to an offer sheet. Based on this account from Nicholas J. Cotsonika of the Detroit Free Press, it's clear Schwartz likes the idea. He compared Hargrove to defensive lineman Kevin Carter, whom he coached in Tennessee, and said the Lions could use Hargrove at end on first and second down and then at tackle in passing situations.

Stay tuned on both fronts.
