Shakeup among Bears' McCaskeys
By Kevin Seifert
I'm not yet sure what to make of Wednesday's announcement that George McCaskey will succeed older brother Michael McCaskey as Chicago's chairman of the board after the 2010 season. Both men are scheduled to speak at a news conference in a few hours.
President/CEO Ted Phillps runs the franchise, and the Bears said on their Twitter page that he "will remain firmly in control of day-to-day operations." But the McCaskey family is the primary owner, and you wonder if this change relates to a long-term succession plan for matriarch Virginia McCaskey.
