Atari Bigby finally accepts Packers' offer
By Kevin Seifert
If there was any question, it is now clear that Green Bay Packers safety Atari Bigby has no plans to stage a training camp holdout and will report to Lambeau Field in time for Friday's practice. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Bigby finally signed his restricted free agent tender sheet nearly five months after the Packers originally issued it.
It's expected that Bigby will earn $1.704 million this season, assuming he makes the team. But Bigby has at least some catching up to do after skipping the entire offseason program, as well as veteran minicamp, in an attempt to secure a long-term contract. In the meantime, third-round draft-pick Morgan Burnett worked in Bigby's starting spot throughout the latter stages of offseason practice.
Burnett has a decent chance to unseat Bigby with a strong training camp performance. As always, stay tuned.
