Vikings' fears about WR depth leads to...
By Kevin Seifert
Sidney Rice remains on the physically-unable-to-perform list. Percy Harvin was taken off the practice field in an ambulance. As a result, the Minnesota Vikings have so much uncertainty at receiver that they are working out -- yes -- free agent receiver Javon Walker.
Yes, that Javon Walker, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter. The former Green Bay Packers receiver saw action in three games last season for the Oakland Raiders, but of late he is best known for being robbed and beaten in Las Vegas in June 2008. Here's part of a recent news story:
Walker, 31, is now an unsigned free agent. He testified he was falling-down drunk when he got into a car with two men he didn't know after a long night of partying at Las Vegas clubs.
[Arfat Abdo] Fadel testified he drove his girlfriend's Range Rover while [Deshawn Lamont] Thomas attacked Walker from behind and took Walker's 2-carat diamond earrings and diamond-encrusted platinum watch and necklace.
Fadel testified that he didn't see but that Thomas told him he punched Walker outside the vehicle before they drove away.
Walker's last productive NFL season came in 2006, when he caught 69 passes for the Denver Broncos. We'll discuss him in further detail if and when the Vikings sign him. It would be crazy for him to reunite with quarterback Brett Favre, wouldn't it? For now, please join me over at SportsNation for our weekly chat.
