BBAO: Lions 'not concerned' about Bowers

We're Black and Blue All Over:

We're going to circle back soon on our "Have at It" question regarding the possibility of either the Minnesota Vikings or Detroit Lions capitalizing on an anticipated slip of one of the best pass-rushers available in this draft. We're not sure if the Vikings or Lions will select Clemson defensive end Da'Quan Bowers because we don't know what their medical people have determined about the condition of his knee, but Lions general manager Martin Mayhew did address Bowers during a pre-draft news conference Thursday.
Mayhew, via Tom Kowalski of Mlive.com: "I think there's some concern about his medical. Our doctors have evaluated him and we don't share that concern. I would say he's not in pristine physical condition according to our doctors, but we're not concerned about his health status as far as playing football in the future."

That's at typical Mayhew answer that tells us the Lions have some concerns about Bowers but haven't ruled him out as a possible draft pick. I wouldn't expect him to say anything less, although it is interesting he has acknowledged that a medical issue exists. Bowers and his agent have insisted the knee is fully healed.
