Favre, Rice don't connect

CLEVELAND -- We’ve have our first quarterback-joins-team-late moment here in Cleveland. On a third-down play at the Browns’ 1-yard line, new Minnesota quarterback Brett Favre fired pass toward the back right corner of the end zone.
Favre obviously thought that’s where receiver Sidney Rice would end up. Rice, however, broke his route off about halfway into the end zone. The ball landed incomplete, and the Vikings settled for a 21-yard field goal. The game was tied at 3 as the first quarter ended.
I’m sure we media jackals will be looking hard for such instances. The reality is miscommunication occurs between quarterbacks and receivers all the time. But the nature and timing of Favre’s arrival will make them particularly noteworthy.
