BBAO: Why was Harrison tested for tumor?

In the wake of the stunning news on Detroit Lions running back Jerome Harrison's brain tumor, many of you have asked a simple question: Is it standard for NFL teams to test for such ailments in the routine physical Harrison had after his since-voided trade to the Philadelphia Eagles?

The answer, like many medical questions in the NFL, is highly guarded and probably varies per team. But reports that Harrison informed the Eagles' doctors that he was having headaches, thus prompting the necessary tests.

As of Friday morning, Harrison remained a part of the Lion's active 53-man roster. Coach Jim Schwartz said "it’s a privacy issue" and wouldn't comment.
