Audio: Bears QB Jay Cutler with ESPN 1000
By Kevin Seifert
Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler checked in with "The Waddle & Silvy Show" Wednesday for what I thought was a laid-back, honest and fun interview.
It started with Silvy asking Cutler for advice after getting engaged recently. Cutler, whose on-and-off relationship with fiance Kristin Cavallari appears to be back on, laughed and said: "No." Cutler later described defensive end Julius Peppers as a "cyborg" who gets new legs attached on the sideline when he suffers what appears to be a serious injury, and was candid about his well-chronicled dealings with offensive coordinator Mike Martz this season.
"I think Mike's done an unbelievable job of adapting to what we're capable of doing and kind of changing his train of thought, which isn't easy to do," Culter said. "... I respect the heck out of him. I love him to death." Referring to changes he publicly encouraged Martz to make, Cutler said: "We had to win some ball games. We had to turn it around. Something had to give."
Admitting he directed an obscenity toward Martz during a game against the Minnesota Vikings last month, Cutler said: "In the heat of the moment, I was pissed. I wanted something else called and it wasn't, and it was just kind of one of those things."
Go ahead. It's worth your 13 minutes and 41 seconds.
