Lions' Sims likely to miss time

Detroit might dig deeper into its rookie class this week because of a shoulder injury to starter Ernie Sims.
Sims seems likely to miss at least one game, and probably more, because of what coach Jim Schwartz said is a “fairly significant” injury suffered in Sunday’s 27-13 loss to Minnesota. Unofficially, Sims had nine tackles and a fumble recovery in the game.
Based on the Lions’ depth chart, the two likeliest replacements for Sims are second-year player Jordon Dizon and rookie DeAndre Levy. Considering Schwartz’s commitment to the Lions’ current draft class -- four of them already are in the starting lineup -- it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Levy get the nod Sunday against Washington. We’ll keep you updated.
