Adrian Peterson could practice Tuesday
By Kevin Seifert
It's been looking like the Minnesota Vikings would activate tailback Adrian Peterson from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list in the coming days, and it appears the team has reached a tentative schedule for doing so.
According to ESPN's Josina Anderson, the Vikings are targeting their Tuesday practice at Minnesota State University, Mankato, for Peterson's return to football activity. He could be added to the roster as early as Sunday.
That schedule could have him ready for the Vikings' third preseason game, Aug. 24 at the Metrodome against the San Diego Chargers. And if all goes well in that game, Peterson would be on track to participate in the Vikings' season opener two weeks later against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Peterson tore the ACL and MCL in his left knee on Dec. 24, 2011, and had surgery Dec. 30. By my math, Tuesday would be 10 days short of the eight-month anniversary of the injury.
We'll pass along any updates on Sunday.
