BBAO: Brandon Marshall has Cutler's back

By Kevin Seifert

We're Black and Blue All Over:

Chicago Bears receiver Brandon Marshall has not backed down on his contention that Bears quarterback Jay Cutler was injured on a dirty play during Monday night's victory over the Detroit Lions. Cutler and Bears coach Lovie Smith have both waved off such suggestions about the hit he received from Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, but on Tuesday we discussed whether Marshall's contention reflected his own opinion or if he was speaking for a silent majority in the Bears' locker room.

Wednesday, Marshall implied that Cutler privately agrees with him but doesn't feel comfortable speaking out.

"I think Jay is in the position with [the media] anything he says may be taken the wrong way and it's important for his teammates to speak for him at times,'' Marshall said, according to David Haugh of the Chicago Tribune.

In the end, we should expect nothing less from Marshall, who has spoken his mind throughout his career and is eminently loyal to Cutler. Is Cutler truly angry at Suh? That's a very secondary issue here. Marshall is doing what teammates do.
