Adrian Peterson: 74 yards in seven minutes
By Kevin Seifert
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Vikings could not have drawn up the first half of the first quarter here at the Metrodome any better. They have a 14-0 lead over the Chicago Bears and quarterback Christian Ponder has only thrown one pass.
Tailback Adrian Peterson gained 74 yards and scored two touchdowns in the first six minutes, 20 seconds of the game. That includes a 51-yard scamper on the game's first play to set up his first touchdown.
Vikings cornerback Josh Robinson intercepted a Jay Cutler pass on the ensuing possession, returning it to the six yard line, and Peterson scored on third down to account for the current score.
There's obviously plenty of time to go in this game, but this start couldn't be better for the Vikings. For the Bears? You know what they say: The earlier you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.
