Caption this: Clay Matthews' sack dance
By Kevin Seifert
How would you describe the sack dance by Green Bay's Clay Matthews on Sunday against Chicago?
My instinct was to consider it an homage to some pro wrestler. "Ravishing" Rick Rude? Val Venis? I'm not sure. Others, including Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, wondered if it was a nod to "Dancing with the Stars" judge Bruno Tonioli.
Whatever Clay Matthews' post-sack dance was Sunday at Soldier Field, well, it drew the desired attention.
Regardless, I thought the photo would make a nice caption contest.
And if you didn't get enough inside football from this post, I'll leave you with this: in his first game back from a hamstring injury, Matthews had two of the Packers' four sacks Sunday of Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler. He now has 11 sacks in the 10 games he's played, and this season, the Packers have recorded one sack for every 12.1 dropbacks in those games. If they had maintained that rate for the entire season, it would rank No. 1 in the NFL.
In the four games Matthews has missed, the Packers had a sack rate of one for every 23.8 dropbacks. The NFL's team-wide average sack rate is 16.9. Thanks to John McTigue of ESPN Stats & Information for giving us some actual information to pass along here.
