Lots of edge rushers on Packers' schedule
By Kevin Seifert
Green Bay Packers reporter Rob Demovsky has taken you through most every angle of Bryan Bulaga's season-ending ACL tear. I just wanted to jump in quickly and re-post the chart we published in the spring that helped explain why the Packers were seeking more stability at their top pass-blocking position.
The Packers will face a cross-section of the NFL's top pass-rushers this season, starting with San Francisco 49ers All-Pro Aldon Smith in Week 1. Also on the list is Terrell Suggs (Baltimore Ravens) and DeMarcus Ware (Dallas Cowboys), in addition to NFC North rivals Jared Allen (Minnesota Vikings) and Julius Peppers (Chicago Bears).
As Demovsky notes, it seems the Packers will be left to choose between Marshall Newhouse and rookie David Bakhtiari at left tackle, with the other playing on the right side.
Who would you prefer to face Smith, Allen, Peppers and the rest of that group? A rookie or a player whom the Packers' offseason evaluation suggested should be playing another position? Yikes.
