Packers place Casey Hayward on IR

By Rob Demovsky

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Casey Hayward's season of frustration is over.

The Green Bay Packers placed the second-year cornerback on injured reserve Saturday after he injured his hamstring for the third time since July.

A year after leading all NFL rookies with six interceptions, he played in only three games this season. He first was injured on the eve of training camp and then re-injured his hamstring in the preseason. He missed the first six weeks of the regular season and then lasted only three games before he was injured again.

The Packers placed another cornerback, James Nixon, on injured reserve because of a knee injury.

They filled the roster by activating safety Sean Richardson and defensive end Jerel Worthy from the physically unable to perform list. Richardson returns after a neck injury that required fusion surgery, while Worthy is coming back from reconstructive knee surgery.
