Black and Blue all over: Awards aplenty
By Kevin Seifert
I don’t always rush to report the NFL’s latest in-season awards. They feel like a manufactured trap from the league publicity machine. What do these awards mean? What are the criteria? Who decides them? I don’t have an answer to any of those questions.

Green Bay cornerback Charles Woodson was named the NFC defensive player of the month for the second time this season.
Minnesota quarterback Brett Favre was named NFC offensive player of the month.
And Vikings receiver/kick returner Percy Harvin was named NFC rookie of the month.
