INDIANAPOLIS -- As the third day of the scouting combine gets underway, let’s tap into Scouts Inc. to provide a glimpse into the highlights of Day 2:
The top two quarterbacks looked the part during weigh-ins and measurements. Auburn’s Cam Newton was 6-foot-5 and 248 pounds, and Missouri’s Blaine Gabbert was 6-4 5/8th and 234 pounds. The biggest quarterback was Arkansas’ Ryan Mallett, who measured 6-6 3/8th and 253 pounds.
Updating earlier information, it appears that Florida State’s Christian Ponder will throw with the rest of the quarterbacks on Sunday. If that’s the case, Gabbert will be the only quarterback among the 17 here who won’t throw.
Georgia receiver A.J. Green was impressive at 6-foot-3 5/8th and 211 pounds. He also had 34-inch arms, the second-longest among receivers.
Colorado offensive lineman Nate Solder, who has been paired with the Detroit Lions at the No. 13 overall pick, had a disappointing showing in the bench press, managing 21 repetitions. It tied for the fourth-lowest among offensive linemen.
