Shortly after his arrival in Minnesota, someone placed a rocking chair in front of Brett Favre's locker. At 39, Favre was the Vikings' oldest player and the joke was entirely appropriate.
Now 40, Favre has earned another distinction: He is without question the Vikings' youngest grandfather. Favre confirmed the news Tuesday after it was originally reported by Larry Fitzgerald Sr. of the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder.
Favre's daughter, Brittany, recently gave birth.
If Favre's arrival gift last year was a rocking chair, what should it be this year? Maybe a purple onesie? The Vikings' official online store offers one for -- unbelievably -- $40. At those rates, Favre is going to have to play a few more years to fund his grandchild's wardrobe.
*Update: ESPN's Ed Werder reports that Brittany Favre named her son Parker Brett. He weighed seven pounds, seven ounces. Favre told Werder: "A grandpa at 40. It almost makes me feel old." As for its effect on his future with the Vikings, Favre said: "It makes things more complicated but right now I'm not thinking much about football."
