B & B all over: Roster moves

It was a bit of a comedown after the intensity of the NFL draft, but we did have a few minor roster moves Monday in the NFC North.

According to ESPN's John Clayton, Detroit released four players: receiver Michael Ray Garvin, running back Cedric Peerman, cornerback DeAngelo Smith and defensive tackle Terrance Taylor.

Meanwhile, in Green Bay, the Packers re-signed safety Charlie Peprah and released tight end Devin Frischknecht. Jason Wilde has more at

Catching up on a few personnel notes in the NFC North:

Detroit Lions: Tailback Cedric Peerman is expected to be promoted from the practice squad to replace Kevin Smith (knee) on the active roster, according to John Niyo of the Detroit News. Tom Kowalski of reports that the Lions also placed tight end Casey FitzSimmons (concussion) on injured reserve, signed free agent tight end Michael Matthews and claimed kick returner Brian Witherspoon off waivers from Jacksonville.

Green Bay Packers: Receiver Patrick Williams was promoted from the practice squad. Receiver Biren Ealy was released. Meanwhile, defensive lineman Johnny Jolly was indicted again on drug possession charges in the Houston area. Here's a full report from Jason Wilde of ESPN Milwaukee.

Minnesota Vikings: Linebacker Erin Henderson was suspended for the final three games of the regular season and the Vikings’ first playoff game for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances. Linebacker J Leman was promoted from the practice squad. Henderson’s older brother, Vikings linebacker E.J. Henderson, was placed on injured reserve last week after fracturing his left femur.
