NFC North: Randy Wright
It was part of our pie-in-the-sky package on Tebow's future. We couldn't give Tebow his usual No. 15 because some guy named Starr used to wear it. So we opted for No. 16, immediately bringing to mind the Randy Wright years.
Surely you recall Randy Wright, a sixth-round pick in 1984. He played five seasons, notched a 7-25 record in 32 starts and had a career passer rating of 61.4.
On the Randy Wright scale, where do you think Tebow will land? Better or worse?
GREEN Bay, Wis. -- You have to go back further than you might think to answer our trivia question from the previous post.
On Sept. 22, 1986, Randy Wright started for the Packers on Monday Night Football against the Chicago Bears, who were 25-12 victors in that game. The Packers didn't play another Monday Night game until Nov. 8, 1993, when Brett Favre started against Kansas City. (The Chiefs won 23-16).
So, in conclusion, it's been 22 years since a quarterback not named Favre started for the Packers on Monday Night Football. Aaron Rodgers will end that streak here in a few hours.
