Fullback Brad Hoover is one of the sharper guys in the Carolina locker room. But it shouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out one of the (many) mistakes the Panthers made in Saturday's loss to Arizona.
Give Hoover credit for having the guts to say it in a locker room where there almost never is anything remotely close to criticism of the coaching staff. And give Hoover credit for saying something that needed to be said.
It was pretty obvious that putting the game in Jake Delhomme's hands wasn't a good idea. With the "Double Trouble" backfield of DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart, that should have been obvious long before the game. Yes, the Panthers fell behind and they had to throw, after a certain point.
But that's no excuse for giving Williams and Stewart only a combined nine carries in the first half.
