METAIRIE, La. -- The Saints have reached a contract agreement with first-round pick Patrick Robinson, according to Mike Triplett.

That means the Saints will have all their rookies under contract very soon. Robinson is expected to arrive in New Orleans shortly before camp opens Friday morning. Not sure if he’ll get the contract signed and be on the field in time for the morning session, which is scheduled to start at 8:50 a.m. CT, but I think it’s a safe bet Robinson will be on the field for the afternoon practice.

Good thing because the rookie from Florida State has a chance to earn some serious playing time. Jabari Greer and Tracy Porter are set as the starters, but Robinson has a shot to claim the job at nickelback.

I’ll be out there in the morning and will give early observations on Robinson as soon as he hits the field. Robinson’s agreement leaves only one NFC South rookie without a contract. That’s Tampa Bay’s Gerald McCoy, the No. 3 overall pick in the draft. The Bucs report Friday and begin practice Saturday, so there still is plenty of time for McCoy to reach a deal.
