Tony Gonzalez: Saints great for NFC South

METAIRIE, La. – As I wait for the New Orleans Saints to start their afternoon practice, I just scrolled through the interview transcripts the Atlanta Falcons sent me last night.
One thing really jumped out. That was a quote from tight end Tony Gonzalez. Conventional wisdom might suggest that having the New Orleans Saints in the NFC South is not good for the Falcons, Buccaneers or Panthers, but Gonzalez doesn’t agree with that – at all.
“I think it’s the best thing that could ever happen,’’ Gonzalez said. “You get that measuring stick, and it was a measuring stick for us last year. Both those games [against New Orleans] we could have won. There is no doubt about it, but we didn’t and that’s just how it goes in the NFL. Playing them twice is only a plus for us. ... We’ll see how we do against them this year.”
