As he is prone to do, Carolina Panthers coach John Fox tried to stay clear of any hint of controversy when asked about the health of quarterback Matt Moore, who suffered a concussion in Sunday’s loss to the New York Giants.
Fox said Moore is feeling much better and would not rule him out of Sunday’s game against Tampa Bay. Fox was quick to say Moore remains the starter, if he’s healthy.
But this is still worth watching as the week goes on and we find out how quickly Moore gets back on the practice field. The NFL has put in stronger guidelines for players who suffer concussions and one of those rules is getting a second opinion from a doctor that’s not employed by the team.
If Moore’s not ready for the Buccaneers, rookie Jimmy Clausen likely would get his first career start.
