The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced last week that they're abandoning Disney's Wide World of Sports to hold training camp at their own practice facility in Tampa. The New Orleans Saints could be following a similar path.
Brian Allee-Walsh caught up to coach Sean Payton at LSU's pro day Monday. While saying the Saints still are interested in free-agent safety Darren Sharper, Payton acknowledged the Saints are at least considering moving training camp to their own facility in Metairie.
In recent years the Saints have trained at Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss. In the past, Payton has said he likes the setup and that it helped the team bond. But there's a growing trend in the NFL, which may be fueled even more by the economy, for teams to stay at home for training camp.
