The Atlanta Falcons now have nine players and a coaching staff in the Pro Bowl.
The league just announced cornerback Brent Grimes has been added to the NFC squad, which will be coached by Atlanta’s Mike Smith and his staff. Grimes will enter as an alternate, taking the place of Green Bay’s Charles Woodson, who will be playing in the Super Bowl.
Atlanta’s nine players are a league high. John Abraham, Tony Gonzalez, Ovie Mughelli, Matt Ryan, Michael Turner, Eric Weems and Roddy White all were selected in the initial voting and Tyson Clabo previously was added as an alternate.
Grimes became a full-time starter for the first time this year and recorded five interceptions. According to the Falcons, he had an NFC-best and franchise record 23 passes defensed.
