I just got the official numbers on the contract tight end Jeremy Shockey signed with the Carolina Panthers last week.

The one-year deal is pretty straight forward, but has some protection for both sides in case Shockey comes to training camp and doesn’t look like the Panthers expected. He’s scheduled to make $3 million in base salary with $1 million of that guaranteed.

There also is an $812,500 bonus if Shockey is on the opening-day roster this season. Shockey was released by the New Orleans Saints and had been scheduled to earn $4.7 million with them.

He reportedly received interest from Miami, but it’s unclear if the Dolphins made an official offer before Shockey chose to sign with Carolina.
