'Hard Knocks' still a good idea?

Just got a call from a friend and die-hard Buccaneers fan I’ll call “Dan’’, who once played a little college basketball with former NBA player Jeff Malone, but that's a story for another day. Anyway, Dan's been following the Aqib Talib situation pretty closely and he had a pretty good observation and question.

“Do the Bucs still think it’s a good idea to be on “Hard Knocks’’?’’ Dan said.

He’s got a point. As I said in this post, there are positives and negatives that come with being on the popular HBO series. The negatives are that your doors, windows, meeting rooms and dirty laundry are completely open to the constant presence of television cameras. The Bucs have had conversations about being featured on the show this summer, but nothing has been finalized.

The good news is that, if there is a training camp, Talib probably isn’t going to be there with the rest of the Bucs. But that doesn’t mean the potential for something negative to happen is totally gone. In any NFL locker room, especially when you’re talking about expanded rosters in training camp, there are bound to be some unflattering things that come along.
