  Booker

I just sent the following item to our news desk to post on the "breaking news'' portion of our NFL page and wanted to share this with you quickly. Here it is:

The Atlanta Falcons, suddenly desperate for wide receivers, have signed veteran Marty Booker.

Booker is expected to join the Falcons for practice Thursday. His signing comes the same day the Falcons added veteran receiver Robert Ferguson.

That comes after Harry Douglas, who was projected to be one of Atlanta's top three receivers, was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury. Atlanta's leading receiver, Roddy White, has been holding out of camp in a contract dispute, leaving Michael Jenkins and Brian Finneran as the only experienced receivers.

Booker, 33, spent last season with Chicago, where he started five games and had 14 receptions for 211 yards and two touchdowns.
