Time for a run through the headlines across the NFC South.

Drew Brees calls tight end David Thomas one of the best teammates he’s ever played with. Thomas is a free agent, but wants to return to New Orleans and the Saints want to keep him.

The Saints are going to let some fans practice with them again June 15. They’re having another raffle with the proceeds going to charity.

The mother of Tampa Bay cornerback Aqib Talib reportedly told police it might have been her son who fired shots during a March incident in Texas. Talib and his mother have both been indicted for assault.

Cam Newton will attend workouts with other members of the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte this week. But that’s not the only way he’s working to endear himself to his new teammates. Newton will take part in the David Clowney Celebrity weekend next week in Florida. Clowney is a wide receiver for the Panthers.

Tampa Bay’s defensive players haven’t been very involved in the passing minicamps quarterback Josh Freeman has been holding, but they’re staying busy. Cornerback E.J. Biggers has been training in South Florida and has been working out against receivers like New England’s Wes Welker.

The Falcons have five players, including quarterback Matt Ryan, ranked among the top 100 by NFL Network.
