Leftwich can grab starting job Saturday night

Colleague Jeffri Chadiha has a lengthy story on Byron Leftwich and his attempt to get back into a starting job.

Jeffri's story tells you all about how Leftwich went from being a franchise quarterback in Jacksonville to a backup in Pittsburgh, a role he could have stayed in. But Leftwich wanted a chance to be a starter and the Bucs offered him that.

In fact, Leftwich probably is on the verge of nailing down the starting job Saturday night when the Bucs play in Jacksonville. He outplayed Luke McCown last week. If Leftwich does that again, the job is his. If the two are equal Saturday night, I think the nod still would go to Leftwich.

I think the only way Leftwich loses the job is if he has a bad outing and McCown has a great one.
