At 28, he’s a little old for what the Bucs typically look for. But he’s similar to a lot of their recent finds in that he comes with some questions. A first-round pick in Buffalo in 2006, McCargo never panned out.
But the Bucs have had good luck taking chances on players other teams didn’t want (see Ted Larsen, Tyrone McKenzie, LeGarrette Blount and Dezmon Briscoe). I’m sure McCargo’s contract is relatively minimal, so why not take a shot?
