The Carolina Panthers continued to work to shore up their thin group of defensive tackles Sunday, claiming Ra’Shon “Sonny’’ Harris off rosters from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Panthers also claimed running back Tyrell Sutton, who was released by Green Bay.
Harris was a sixth-round pick by Pittsburgh last year and played collegiately at Oregon. The Panthers have been searching for help at defensive tackle since Maake Kemoeatu went down with an injury on the first day of training camp.
Sutton also has return abilities, an area where the Panthers have some uncertainty. He also can provide some backfield depth behind DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart and rookie Mike Goodson. Sutton played at Northwestern, where he finished his career with 5,138 all-purpose yards.
