Tampa Bay lost out on its bid to host the Super Bowl in 2015.

At an NFL meeting in Houston, owners just voted to give that Super Bowl to Glendale, Ariz. Tampa Bay was the only other candidate.

I think the fact Tampa Bay has hosted a Super Bowl more recently than Arizona worked in Glendale’s favor. Arizona and Tampa Bay have hosted Super Bowls in the past and, as warm-weather locations, they’re viewed as favorites among the owners.

With Glendale getting this game, Tampa Bay would seem to be a favorite for the 2016 game. Tampa Bay also was a close runner-up to New York/New Jersey for the 2014 game.
