Tampa Bay coach Raheem Morris had a very interesting answer when asked by Green Bay writers what has been the difference between last season and this season.
“We played a couple of tougher teams,’’ Morris said Wednesday in a conference call.
The Bucs were a surprising 10-6 last season. Despite high hopes this year, they’re off to a 4-5 start. As we noted Tuesday, Tampa Bay has played one of the league’s toughest schedules so far this season.
It should be pointed out that the Bucs and the rest of the NFC South might have had their records inflated a bit in 2010 because they were paired against what was a very weak NFC West. Morris pointed out, that this year’s opponents have included some quality teams.
“The games that we have lost were to the Houston Texans, who are in first or second place in their division,’’ Morris said. “We also lost to the Chicago Bears, who are second in their division. We lost to the New Orleans Saints, which lead our division, and we’ve played some tougher teams. We played the Detroit Lions who are second or third in their division and are off and rolling. We’ve played some really tough teams.”
