If there is any news of significance, I’ll weigh in on it when I get to New Orleans this evening or maybe even during a layover to switch planes.
On Sunday, I’ll be watching the early games between the Atlanta Falcons and Houston Texans and the Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. We’ll get the inactives up for both of those games approximately 90 minutes before kickoff. That’s also roughly the same time we’ll find out for sure if Tampa Bay quarterback Josh Freeman, who has been bothered by a shoulder injury, will be playing. Atlanta receiver Julio Jones (hamstring) and running back Michael Turner (groin) are listed as questionable. The fact they practiced Friday was a positive sign, but we'll know for sure if they're playing once the Falcons turn in their list of inactives.
I’ll provide wrap-ups on both early games soon after they end. After that, I’ll head for the Mercedes-Benz Superdome to get ready for the Saints and Lions.
