The Week 2 power rankings are out and it’s no surprise the New Orleans Saints are soaring and the Carolina Panthers are tumbling.
New Orleans jumped six spots to No. 12 after an easy opening win against Detroit. The Panthers dropped eight spots -- a bigger fall than any other team -- to No. 22 after an ugly loss to Philadelphia.
I’m thinking the Saints will crack the top 10 with a win over Philadelphia on Sunday. Atlanta (No. 7) is the only NFC South team currently in the top 10 and a spot in the top five could be only a week or two away.
The voters dropped Tampa Bay three spots to No. 29. I thought the Bucs showed some bright spots in their opener, but they’ve got to get better on defense or else they’re going to be moving into the 30s very quickly.
