Player discipline unlikely this week

Adam Schefter reports that it is unlikely that player discipline for the New Orleans Saints’ bounty program will be announced Wednesday.

If that holds true, then I don’t think I’m going too far out on a limb by guessing the news won't come this week. The logic on that is pretty simple. The NFL draft starts Thursday and runs through Saturday. It’s the NFL’s biggest event of the offseason and I highly doubt the league wants to overshadow the draft with controversial news. It’s more likely the league will wait until next week to make the announcement.

The only problem I have with that is that I don’t think it’s fair for the Saints to go into the draft without knowing if they’ll have players suspended this season. It sure would be nice to know before the draft who those players are and how long they’ll be out for. If the Saints knew that before the draft, they might be able to pick players that would help them prepare for the suspensions.

It doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.
