Peppers' streak of silence ends

MINNEAPOLIS -- Julius Peppers just dropped Gus Frerotte for his first sack since Nov. 18, 2007. That should help silence some of the critics.

Peppers had only 2.5 sacks last season and none in the first two games. But -- even before the sack -- there had been a noticeable improvement in Peppers' play over last year. He's been much more active and energetic and I saw him come close to getting a sack on at least two plays in the first half. On both of those plays, Peppers hit Frerotte just as he threw the ball.
