SAN FRANCISCO -- Two weeks ago, the Atlanta Falcons showed they weren’t great team. On Sunday, Atlanta provided an update.

It's very good.
The Falcons came across the country and dominated a San Francisco team that was off to a 3-1 start. Atlanta set all sorts of offensive records and its defense played well.
The team that went up to New England before the bye week got thumped. That kept the Falcons from claiming a spot among the league’s elite and raised all sorts of questions about the defense and slumping offensive stars Michael Turner and Roddy White.
Against the 49ers, those questions were answered. White became the first player in franchise history to reach 200 receiving yards, and Turner scored three touchdowns while looking a lot like he did last year.
Yes, this was a statement game for Turner and White ... and for the Falcons.
No, they haven’t achieved greatness. But they’ve got a shot.
