TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have a special captain for Friday night’s game.
Eric LeGrand, the former Rutgers player they signed after the draft, will serve as the honorary captain and take part in the coin toss before the preseason game with the Tennessee Titans.
LeGrand played for Tampa Bay coach Greg Schiano at Rutgers. LeGrand was paralyzed in a 2010 game and has stayed close to Schiano since.
LeGrand officially “retired’’ from the Bucs just before the start of training camp. He is in the process of finishing his degree at Rutgers.
