It’s been a quiet day in the NFC South, but we do have some transactions and injury news.
- The Falcons just announced they have reached an injury settlement with rookie receiver Michael Calvin.
- The Panthers announced that they have signed center Scott Mruczkowski and waived cornerback Nate Ness. Mruczkowski, who has been primarily a back since entering the league in 2005, is that latest former San Diego player to join the Panthers. That’s been a trend under coach Ron Rivera and offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski, who previously worked for the Chargers.
- The New Orleans Saints have lost linebacker Chris Chamberlain for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Chamberlain was signed as a free agent from St. Louis, where he played under coach Steve Spagnuolo, who is now New Orleans’ defensive coordinator. The Saints had planned to use Chamberlain as a backup linebacker and on special teams.
