It’s been a quiet day in the NFC South, but we do have some transactions and injury news.
The Falcons just announced they have reached an injury settlement with rookie receiver Michael Calvin.
The Panthers announced that they have signed center Scott Mruczkowski and waived cornerback Nate Ness. Mruczkowski, who has been primarily a back since entering the league in 2005, is that latest former San Diego player to join the Panthers. That’s been a trend under coach Ron Rivera and offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski, who previously worked for the Chargers.
The New Orleans Saints have lost linebacker Chris Chamberlain for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Chamberlain was signed as a free agent from St. Louis, where he played under coach Steve Spagnuolo, who is now New Orleans’ defensive coordinator. The Saints had planned to use Chamberlain as a backup linebacker and on special teams.
