The good folks at ESPN Stats & Information had some very interesting numbers on Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan out of Sunday night’s game against the Bears.
First off, the Falcons came into the game having used the shotgun formation on only 22.8 percent of their pass plays. Against the Bears they used it on almost 40 percent of their passes and it worked nicely.
Ryan had been very good on passes of 15 yards or more in his first four games -- 16 of 28 for 407 yards three touchdowns and no interceptions. But he struggled in that area Sunday.
Here’s a breakdown by half that shows just how much Ryan struggled in the second half.
