NFC South Top 25: No. 4

7/15/2013

We continue my NFC South Top 25 with No. 4:

Jahri Evans, guard, Saints

What he did in 2012: Evans made his fourth straight Pro Bowl and was named All-Pro for the fourth consecutive year.

Why he’s No. 4 in 2013: Offensive linemen tend to get overlooked when people are making lists because their position doesn’t come with a lot of flash. But there’s no way I can overlook Evans as I work my way through the top five players in the NFC South. There aren’t too many players in the division who are arguably the best in the league at their position. But Evans is an exception. A lot of coaches and scouts will tell you Evans is the best guard in the league and those that don’t say he’s at least in the top three. Most teams build their offensive line around the tackles. But the Saints don’t. They’ve built this offensive line around Evans and you can’t argue with the offensive production the Saints have had in recent years.
