Let’s run through a few quick notes from around the division:
  • Jeff Demps reportedly plans to join the Buccaneers in August after he’s done competing in track and field. The late start might hinder Demps’ chances of making the roster. But the Bucs are intrigued by Demps’ speed, and he could end up on the practice squad, where the team would try to groom him as a running back, receiver or return man.
  • The Falcons are set with Roddy White, Julio Jones and Harry Douglas as their top three receivers. As Daniel Cox points out, Kevin Cone and Drew Davis have the inside track for the other two roster spots because they have some experience.
  • Charlie Campbell lists New Orleans quarterbacks coach Joe Lombardi and Tampa Bay quarterbacks coach John McNulty as two assistants that could be in line for jobs as offensive coordinators in 2014.
  • Atlanta coach Mike Smith is enjoying his last free weekend before training camp by participating in the American Century Championship golf tournament at Lake Tahoe.
